Leatherman 830678 Charge ALX with Leather Sheath and Gift Tin Overview

When it comes to multitools, there’s one brand that stands out from the rest: Leatherman. The name is synonymous with quality and innovation, and each successive generation of Leatherman tools improves upon the last. Sticking with its tradition of pushing the design envelope, Leatherman introduces the Charge ALX, a high-end, ultra-compact multitool featuring aerospace aluminum handles. If you’re looking to carry the best of what Leatherman has to offer, the ALX could be for you.
  • Lightweight and durable 6061 T6 aluminum alloy handles; pliers redesigned to withstand 133% more squeezing load
  • Lock 50% stronger than original Leatherman tools; bronze bushings for easy opening
  • 154CM stainless steel blade holds edge three times longer than lower grade stainless steel
  • Cutting hook slices through seat belts and linoleum just as easily as leather or canvas; multiple bit drivers for customizing bit selection
  • 25-year warranty

Titanium vs. AluminumYou may be asking whether you want to buy titanium, or if you’d be better off with aluminum. Although both offer superior durability and strength, titanium has an edge in both departments. Titanium is also slightly lighter than aluminum, so it would be a good choice if weight is a major concern. However, titanium also costs more, which is something to factor in if saving .2 ounces doesn’t matter.

Leatherman 830678 Charge ALX with Leather Sheath and Gift Tin Review

This is by far the best multi-tool I've ever owned so far it has held up great and with all the bits available for it as well as the bit extension which allows you to use regular hex bits as well its almost incomparable to other multi tools. The only issues are the pliers should lock in place somehow cause they tend to fold up on you in certain situations, and the crimper / wire cutter doesn't really do that great of a job its not sharp enough and there just isn't enough leverage to crimp wire terminals. Overall its a great tool though because I use the bit driver alot. Also the nylon case is great it has a place to hold 10 or so bits plus two accessories I bought the bit extender and a Streamlight 66318 MicroStream LED Pen Flashlight and it fits perfectly in the case as well.
